Sandra L Dorrbecker lives in West Milford NJ and made her first quilt in 1971. She is a former dress shop owner and enjoys making and designing garments as well as quilts. She has been teaching and lecturing on quilting topics since 1989.
Sandra received her National Quilting Association certification for teaching in 1990 and NQA certification for judging in 1994 and has been working nationally and traveling ever since. In 2006 Sandra was a member of the first judging team for The 100,000 Quilt Challenge. The State Quilt Guild Show of NJ made Sandra their 2007 “All Star”.
Sandra has been an active in member in several quilt organizations including positions of president, vice president, program as well as the Consumer Service editor for the National Quilting Association for 4 years.
She has worked for two National magazines freelancing as a techniqual editor and a writer.
Her work has been seen in Traditional Quilter Magazine, Threads, County Living, Patchwork Quilt Senka (Japan), Quilting International, Quilters Newsletter Magazine, and Quiltmaker Magazine.
Sandra is an award winning quilter in both hand and machine work. Her garment and quilts have won awards in many national events.
Sandra has been invited to design for the Fairfield Fashion Show, DMC Thread Company, and RJR Fashion Fabrics.
Sandra was also invited to participate in the American Sewing Guild’s National Show 2002 and 2005.
Sandra’s Commission work is in private ownership in NJ, CA, HI and France. Her quilts have traveled to trade shows all over the world.
